Elite & Royal to be free modes
by  MrA at 01 Nov, 2012
This isn't new news, the video was published on 31st August, but it managed to pass me by so maybe some of you didn't realise this either. But it appears that two of the modes that have been part of the Shootmania beta are set to become 'free to play' modes for Shootmania when it launches. The modes are Elite and Royal.

This will mean many new players will be around for these modes, so we will look forward to welcoming them to ManiaPlanet and ManiaExchange

A major change to the way the notification system works has been implemented.

Regardless of which site you're on (SM or TM2 exchange), you will now receive notifications 'globally'. This feature implementation compliments the global notification inbox, taking on a truer form factor.

So how does it work?
Regardless of which site you're on, notifications will be pushed to every logged in session. You could be active on SMX and someone may have awarded your track on TM2X. You will receive that notification from TM2X on SMX. :d

Site notifications can now be identified with the prefix "game prefix >"; e.g. TM > Award Received.

All site notifications can still be managed via your Mania Exchange Account profile page.

It's not functioning for me!
Be sure you clear your browser cache or refresh the page.

ManiaExchange
We invite you to check out the blog area of the site.

At the moment, Lexino is making a nice set of articles about map making, you may leave comments if you wish to add some thoughts.

Our community friends at Maniapark have upgraded their site to accept custom maptypes/gamemode scripts, feel free to post your gamemodes there (y)

This is something we talked about with them and agreed they should do it rather than us (as it would be silly for us both to do it)... We hope we will link the maps here which use custom modes directly to the relevant files at ManiaPark.

Some things are still in progress but the upload and listings are ok :done:

You can now pre-order ShootMania Storm at Gamesplanet (link below).

If you missed out on the beta sign-ups, don't worry, because this pre-order will give you instant access to the beta! (brb)

Pre-order ShootMania Storm now! (also available in 3 or 5 packs to reduce he cost for buddies & teams)

Your ManiaExchange Notifications can now be managed and accessed globally in real-time.

In the user bar (before your username), you'll see a new alert icon (!). Clicking this icon will bring up your most recent notifications. :)

Notifications listed in the window are from each site you're a registered user on, hence 'global notifications'. Received a notification at TMX but you're on SMX? Click on the icon to view the notification and follow the link! (brb)

Alternativley, all of your notifications can be managed and viewed at the Mania Exchange Accounts portal.

We recommend you clear your browser cache or force reload the page (Ctrl + F5) to ensure the notifications function correctly.

ManiaExchange
Hello, and welcome to ManiaExchange for Shootmania!

We hope you will have a great time here searching for maps and joining in with the community and forums. Below are a few first things to be doing other than just playing the game...

- Registration
- Say Hello!
- Upload and share your first creations

And Finally....

Special thanks to the following users:
Doben for the star icon (small).

Forzzy for the ugly black bar!

You can now rate maps (except your own).

Information
• It's a star rating system on a scale of 1-5.
• For maps with less than 25 votes, the Beysian and Wilson Interval formulas are used. For maps with more than 25 votes, only the Wilson Interval formula is used. Both are modified formulas to suit a 5-star rating system.
• Ratings are rounded off to two decimal places. Hover over the rating text to see the exact rating (5-10 decimal places).
The default screenshot for maps is now the thumbnail extracted from the map file!

Switching does not currently work.*

* Switching is the ability to switch between a thumbnail and screenshot.
If your map was uploaded prior to Alpha 1.4 and Alpha 2, you must update your map files using the latest version of the game. If you do not update your files, you will be unable to edit map details.
